Applicants for this permit were required to have (1) 5,000 hours of supervised clinical practice within the previous 5 years; (2) current professional liability insurance; (3) 40 classroom hours of courses from a formal, post-secondary educational institution accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation including but not limited to: (a) general medicine and physical diagnosis; (b) pharmacology; (c) medical emergencies and cardiopulmonary resuscitation; (d) oral pathology; (e) management and psychology of geriatric and disabled patients; and (f) jurisprudence relating to unsupervised practice with limited access patients. This bill was introduced at the request of the Oregon Dental Association and the Oregon Dental Hygienists’ Association.
