North West Component Meeting: Abuse and What it Means to be a Mandatory Reporter

You are invited to join us Saturday, May 25th from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM for our monthly Component Meeting and free CE! NO PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.

This month’s Continuing Education (CE) course equips dental professionals with the knowledge and skills to fulfill their ethical and legal obligations as mandatory reporters.

Participants will learn to recognize signs of child and elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation within the dental setting. Attendees will understand reporting protocols and communication strategies with vulnerable patients. This course empowers dental professionals to safeguard the well-being of their patients and contribute to the protection of vulnerable populations.


Learning Objectives: 

  1. Understanding legal obligations as a mandatory reporter
  2. Recognizing indicators of child and elder abuse and neglect
  3. Familiarizing with reporting protocols and documentation requirements

Our presenter is ODHA NW Component Chair, Payton Cuellar. Payton is a recent graduate from Purdue with her Master’s in Public Health. She has been a clinical hygienist for five years and a mandatory reporter for eight years. She is currently working as a temporary hygienist as well as working part time at Pacific University.
